The Anambra State governorship election kicked off promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, at Udeozo Primary School in Awka South Local Government Area.
INEC officials began the accreditation process at three polling units within the school grounds, though only a few voters were present initially.
Amidst the election activities, some young men leisurely played football under the mango trees, seemingly unconcerned.
One of the young men told reporters that he lacked interest in voting, citing past experiences where their votes didn't count and questioning the purpose of voting today.
Meanwhile, an elderly gentleman, 79-year-old Mr. Ogbodo, cast his ballot around 8:55 a.m., describing the process as “smooth” and hopeful that peace would reign throughout the day.
