Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has expressed his disappointment following Beşiktaş’ defeat to Fenerbahçe in the Istanbul derby.
The Black Eagles suffered a 3–2 home loss despite taking a two-goal lead.
After goals from El Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topçu, a red card to Orkun Kökçü turned the game on its head.
Fenerbahçe made the most of the numerical advantage, scoring three times to secure all three points.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Ndidi stated that the red card shifted the momentum of the game in favour of Fenerbahçe.
“The match was going well for us. We even took a 2–0 lead. When we conceded a goal after the red card, the opponent gained momentum,” Ndidi told beIN Sports.
“We wanted to stay in the match. We had a fighting spirit. We need to build on that a little more. We know we have quality. We must all stay united.”
