Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has mocked US President Donald Trump following his threat to invade Nigeria to stop the killing of Christians by Fulani and Islamic militias.

In Facebook posts, Gumi described Trump as a despot and the big daddy of Christians, while revealing that Muslims depend on Allah.

He said, "No reason to despair! Trump, the big daddy of Christians. Allah, the almighty of Muslims. Trump called Nigeria a disgraced country. How despicable this despot can be."

In another post, Gumi urged President Bola Tinubu to summon the US Ambassador to make Trump retract his threats. According to him, if the US fails to retract, then Nigeria should sever ties with the World power.

He said, "For Trump to threaten a sovereign country with military attack is a profound disrespect to our authority, but we can rise above it. President Tinubu should summon the US ambassador; they either retract their threats or we sever diplomatic ties with this irresponsible regime. There are lots of other options for our economic expansion and military alliance."
