A Magistrate’s Court in Kuje, Abuja, granted bail on Friday to publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor (a member of the legal team for detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu), his brother Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and ten others. Each was released on the condition of a ₦500,000 bond with two sureties of equal amount.

The thirteen defendants faced charges of inciting public disturbance and breach of peace linked to the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held on October 20 in Abuja. Ejimakor, Emmanuel Kanu, and the ten others were arrested during the protest and detained at Kuje Correctional Facility. Sowore was later detained on October 23 at the Federal High Court premises in Abuja while protesting Kanu’s terrorism trial.

After reviewing the bail requests, the court granted all thirteen defendants temporary release pending further legal proceedings.
