Tinubu never said ASUU strike will help students relax their brain - Group

President Bola Tinubu President Bola Tinubu

A pro-Tinubu group, Renewed Hope United Kingdom, has dismissed a report that President Bola Tinubu described the two-week strike action by the Academic and Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as a "minor issue" and that it will allow students to learn skills and relax their brains.

"This claim is entirely untrue and deliberately concocted to misinform the public and malign the reputation of a President who has consistently demonstrated deep commitment to education reform, student welfare, and institutional stability," the group said in a statement.

The group recalled that President Tinubu has repeatedly emphasised that a four-year course must remain a four-year course, uninterrupted by strikes, poor funding, or administrative inefficiencies. "It was this conviction that informed his approval and implementation of the Students' Loan Scheme, now operational across tertiary institutions, ensuring that no Nigerian student is forced to abandon education due to financial hardship.

"Under his leadership, numerous education-focused interventions have been introduced to expand access, improve infrastructure, and strengthen learning outcomes nationwide.

"It is, therefore, illogical and malicious to attribute such a dismissive comment to a leader whose actions clearly reflect a deep respect for Nigeria's students and educators.

"The public is hereby urged to disregard the fabricated post in its entirety. It is nothing more than a product of political mischief and bears no connection whatsoever to the vision, voice, or values of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

"President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda remains resolute in its commitment to education as the cornerstone of national renewal and sustainable development," it said.
