Controversial activist, Omoyele Sowore has disclosed that Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Kanu’s brother was beaten and arrested by the police during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.

According to him, security operatives fired shots and tear gas at the protest grounds on Monday morning despite being unprovoked by protesters.

He said, “We started the protest in front of the Transcop hotel and security operatives came, army, police, civil defence, I started telling them that we are not enemies that the protest is not about them, then suddenly, they started shooting at us with tear gas and some live bullets were fired.

“Luckily, nobody was hit by the bullets but they were just shooting all around us. Eventually, they arrested some people. I heard that Nnamdi Kanu’s brother was arrested and beaten.

“The lawyer, Ejimakor was also arrested and beaten before they were taken to the FCT command.

“It was an unprovoked attack from the police force.”
