Igbos will dance on grave of Nnamdi Kanu's victims if they join Sowore's protest - Igbokwe

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has urged Igbo people not to join activist Omoyele Sowore in protesting for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu is being held in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) and also facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.

However, his supporters have been calling for his release, with Sowore planning a protest for Monday, October 20, 2025, in Abuja.

Reacting, Igbokwe said no bona fide Igbo person would join the protest. According to him, doing so would mean they are dancing on the grave of their kinsmen killed by Kanu and his criminal gangs.

He wrote on Facebook, "Any bona fide person with Igbo blood running inside him must not follow Omoyele Sowore to dance on the graves of hundreds of South East men and women killed by Nnamdi Kanu and his criminal gangs. Actions carry consequences."
