Onanuga excited as international journalist dismisses 'Christian genocide' claims

An international journalist, Barry Malone, has dismissed the claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria as peddled by foreign agents.

MyNigeria reported that U.S. lawmakers, including Senator Ted Cruz, Representative Riley Moore, and Representative Nancy Mace, are backing the claims, as first made by TV show host Bill Maher.

According to Maher, since 2009, about 100,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria, a situation he described as an attack on faith.

Reacting, journalist Malone pointed out that those doing the attacking also target Muslims, emphasising that Muslims have suffered more than Christians at the hands of the terrorists.

He wrote on X, "I regularly cover Nigeria in my newsletter, including attacks on Christians, which are often brutal. But the 100,000 figure is absurd.

"There is no genocide. Boko Haram kills more Muslim civilians than Christians. Maher and Mace do not give a f*ck about Africa.

"Israel supporters only reveal their contempt for the people of Nigeria, DR Congo, Sudan etc when they use them to score political points. And they also never mentioned them before realising they could be weaponised.

"And before you search my timeline, I've reported from both DR Congo and Sudan, edited hundreds of stories from all three countries, executive produced hundreds of TV shows and cover them all often in my newsletter.

"There were actual genocidal acts carried out during Ethiopia's Tigray war. Did Maher's mysterious news sources cover that? Or did he not mention that story because he couldn't figure out how to weaponise it?"

Reacting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, backed Malone's claims, urging Maher to focus on the situation in Gaza and not Nigeria.

"Barry Malone is certainly making more sense than Bill Mayer, who keeps pushing a narrative about a Christian genocide that does not exist in Nigeria, when he should focus on Gaza, where the state of Israel has committed heinous crimes against the Palestinians," he shared on X.
