Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, did not train with the Super Eagles team ahead of the crucial clash against Benin Republic.

The 27-year-old has been suspended for the encounter after picking up a yellow card in Nigeria's 2-1 victory over Lesotho.

As the Super Eagles prepare to take on Gernot Rohr's Benin Republic side, Eric Chelle decided not to allow the Atalanta forward to train with the squad.

Despite being suspended for the encounter, Lookman decided to stay with the team and not travel back to his club side in Bergamo, Italy.

Lookman sat at pitchside as the rest of his teammates trained ahead of the crucial clash.

The Super Eagles will take on Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, later today (Tuesday, October 14).
