Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has once again suggested that recent developments in Nigeria indicate that President Bola Tinubu has stabilized the country’s ailing economy.
Despite being a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a long-time critic of past APC administrations and President Tinubu, Omokri’s recent posts suggest a dramatic U-turn, as he now appears to have become a vocal supporter of the president.
In his latest claim, Omokri argued that Nigeria’s economy is performing well, pointing to the fact that the newly released iPhone 17 Pro Max has reportedly sold out across the country.
In a post shared on social media, he wrote: “Tinubu has destroyed Nigeria's economy! Nigeria is finished! Yet, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which costs $1,999, is completely sold out in Nigeria.”
He went on to criticize Nigerians for living lavishly while evading tax responsibilities.
“Ask those who bought the phone to pay taxes, and you will hear stories. But they expect everything from a government they do not pay taxes to. Listen, President Tinubu did not finish Nigeria. All he finished is our fake life! We act as though we are poor when it comes to paying taxes, but we behave richly when it comes to blowing money!”
Omokri’s remarks have stirred reactions online, with many questioning his recent praise of the Tinubu administration despite his affiliation with the opposition.
