A Nigerian man has publicly called out the Minister of Works, David Umahi over the deplorable state of the Lagos-Benin expressway, describing it as a clear case of government neglect.
In a video shared online, the man expressed deep disspointment in the federal governmnent, lamenting that despite years of complaints, nothing has been done to address the challenges faced by road users.
He noted that while government is busy constructing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road to attract foreign investments, the Lagos-Benin expressway, where commercial activities are carried out on a daily basis remians abandoned.
According to him, motorists have been stranded for over eight hours due to a gas tanker that broke down on the highway more than a week ago.
He further revealed that attempts to tow the tanker have failed, with even the crane brought in to remove it reportedly breaking down, worsening the gridlock.
The visibly frustrated road user accused the government of failing in its responsibilities and urged Minister Umahi to prioritize fixing the Lagos–Benin expressway.
