Firefighters battle inferno on six storey building in Lagos

A fire incident broke out at a six-storey building in Afriland Tower, Broad Street, Lagos Island. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the emergency was reported at 13:38 hours, prompting immediate response from firefighting teams.

Firefighters from Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations arrived to contain the blaze. The fire reportedly originated from the inverter room located in the basement, with smoke spreading through multiple floors and engulfing the structure.

Residents and occupants were evacuated as firefighting operations took over the scene. The fire has now been subdued, and the situation is under control.

Ogabi Olajide, Deputy Controller General of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, assured the public that the situation is being managed effectively.
