A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has said the struggle to resurrect the defunct Biafra Republic is nothing but a business venture.
Biafra Republic became defunct after it lost the Nigerian civil war in the 60s to Nigeria when the Eastern part of Nigeria tried to break away.
Since the region was reintegrated, some elements have been fighting to restore the country. One of the prominent forces behind the move is the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by detained Nnamdi Kanu.
Also, the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), led by detained Simon Ekpa, is fighting to restore Biafra.
However, Igbokwe, whose house was once burnt for criticising the movements, described those behind it as scammers.
He wrote on Facebook, "The so called Biafran struggle has turned into a business adventure. The scammers among them who call themselves leaders of the struggle are simply fraudsters and at best criminals who see it as a means of livelihood. Shame!!!:
