Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho got his Celtic campaign off to a flying start after scoring on his debut for the Scottish giants.

The former Leicester City forward netted the winning goal in Celtic's 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday, September 14.

Japanese international Daizen Maeda gave Celtic the lead in the 55th minute before David Watson equalised for the home side seven minutes later.

Iheanacho fired home the winner from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time to give Brendan Rodgers' side the maximum three points.

In a post-match reaction, the Super Eagles forward expressed his excitement after scoring on his debut for the team.

“I feel really, really good. It was the last kick of the game, and I got to take it, so I’m really happy,” Iheanacho told the club’s official website.

“I’m happy for the opportunity, and I could see how the fans felt after that goal. It was a really important goal, so I’m happy.

“It’s a great feeling, but at the same time, there’s a lot of pressure with the spot-kick.

“I just took it with composure, and we won the three points today, which is massive. Hopefully, there are many more to come.”
