The Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, was a place of resolution this Wednesday, as Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault on an Ibom Air flight, was graciously discharged.

Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami made this decision after the police withdrew the five charges against her, bringing relief to those involved.

Earlier, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, shared that these decisions came after thoughtful discussions with key stakeholders in the aviation industry.

He explained that the resolution was reached by carefully reviewing the incidents, listening to appeals from caring individuals, and acknowledging the remorse shown by everyone involved.

In a positive turn, Keyamo also mentioned that Ibom Air has decided to withdraw its complaint against Emmanson, who was arrested following the August 10 incident.

Emmanson appeared before the court on Monday, was granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties of the same amount, but was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre because she couldn’t meet her bail conditions.

During the latest hearing, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, representing the prosecution, shared that there were new developments requiring the case to be withdrawn.

She submitted an application for this withdrawal, which the court kindly accepted.
