Head coach of the Super Eagles B, Eric Chelle, has revealed why his side was thrashed by Sudan in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Tuesday, August 12.
Nigeria crashed out of the 2024 CHAN after suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Sudan in their second group game.
The loss followed the team’s 1-0 defeat to defending champions Senegal in their group opener.
Sudan’s Abdel Raouf scored a brace, with Walieldin Khedr adding another. An own goal by Leonard Ngenge sealed the Super Eagles B's early exit from the competition, regardless of the outcome of their final group game.
In his post-match reaction, Chelle admitted his team made costly mistakes that led to the heavy defeat.
“We did a lot of mistakes and we gave up the game in the second half,” Chelle said.
“Four goals, four mistakes. We did a lot of mistakes in these two games — against Senegal and Sudan.”
