Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has defended Peter Obi against an allegation levelled by a former Niger Delta militant warlord, Asari Dokubo.
Dokubo had accused Obi, a former presidential candidate, of being the brain behind the incarceration of a lady in Peru.
The former warlord accused Obi of sending a lady to ferry drugs abroad, leading to her arrest and incarceration in Peru.
Debunking the allegation, Omokri said he travelled to Peru to verify the claim, which turned out to be false, urging people to disregard it.
Omokri shared this despite his dislike for Obi and his presidential ambition.
He wrote on Facebook, "Dear Sarki, Thank you for your feedback. I do not think Peter Obi will make a good President for Nigeria, and I will do my best to ensure he is never elected. However, this story is false.
"I watched live when Asari Dokubo made that allegation, and I went to Peru to expose Peter Obi as a person involved in the drug trade. I traced the female prison in Peru where women drug mules are taken and got permission to enter.
"There is and has never been anyone like the person Asari accused Peter Obi of sponsoring there, and when I got a lawyer to check the court records, there was no such case.
"I called Asari from Peru and told him the story was false. He agreed not to repeat it and has kept his word.
"Please, I also appeal to you and others not to spread this lie.
"Thanks again, and may God bless you."
