Zainab Oladipo Zainab Oladipo

Canada-based Nigerian chef Zainab Oladipo is preparing to set a new Guinness World Record in Kamloops, British Columbia, by undertaking a 300-hour cooking marathon. Her goal is to create 15,500 dishes representing 195 countries over 14 days, from July 29 to August 12, 2025, at 326 Victoria Street.

This event is more than just a record attempt; Oladipo describes it as a celebration of global cultures, unity, and the universal language of food. With her motto, "Feed, Inspire, Give Back," she aims to promote cultural understanding, community support, and resilience. Attendees will be treated to free meals from diverse international cuisines throughout the event, highlighting the harmonious diversity of our world.

Zainab said, “This is more than just cooking. It’s a movement.

“I want to prove that a woman, an immigrant, a Black Canadian — from right here in Kamloops — can dream big, and achieve something extraordinary”.

The upcoming event, anticipated to draw both local and international crowds, emphasises the importance of community participation. Her team has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for ingredients, logistics, and volunteer efforts. Local businesses and residents are encouraged to contribute through donations, collaborations, or volunteering opportunities. Her management notes that this is the first time a Nigerian-Canadian chef in Kamloops is undertaking such an endeavour, with the goal of inspiring others by showcasing her passion for food and cultural exchange.

“Her mission represents the spirit of unity and determination that transcends borders. Zainab is not just cooking; she’s creating a legacy, one dish at a time,” the statement read.

Zainab’s management team said, “It’s about community connection, representation, and proving that no dream is too big when fuelled by purpose and heart.”
