Former Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi insists Chelsea still needs a top goalkeeper despite Robert Sanchez's heroics against Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
The Blues stunned the Parisians 3–0 at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, to lift the first edition of the expanded version of the competition.
Cole Palmer scored a brace before Joao Pedro added another to seal a remarkable victory for Enzo Maresca's side.
The game saw a brilliant performance from Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who made six incredible saves and earned a rating of 8.8, according to Fotmob.
Speaking in a post-match reaction, Mikel Obi — who has been a big critic of the 27-year-old — lauded him for his excellent performance against Luis Enrique's side.
However, the former Chelsea midfielder believes the Blues still need a top goalkeeper to compete next season.
"I still believe we do need a top, top goalkeeper. Robert Sanchez had a brilliant game today, but going into the new season with the Champions League and the Premier League, I think you still need another top goalkeeper that is going to come in and compete with him," Mikel Obi told DAZN.
