The Nasarawa State Police Command has said that suspected armed robbers stole a car after invading the residence of one Aliyu Tijani, a staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), located along the Old Police Barracks Road, Lafia, on Thursday.
In a statement, the command said that during the attack, the hoodlums made away with a Toyota Camry with registration number LFA 77 ST.
In response, the command immediately launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and initiated efforts to recover the stolen vehicle.
The efforts yielded positive results when credible intelligence indicated that the stolen vehicle had been sighted in Akwanga.
Swiftly acting on this tip-off, detectives attached to Akwanga Division mobilised to the location.
The police said, "Upon sensing the approach of law enforcement, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene before police arrival. The vehicle was successfully recovered at the Lagos Park Area of Akwanga and has since been moved to the police station for further investigation.
"The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers for their prompt response and the residents of Akwanga LGA for their cooperation and timely provision of actionable information. He urged the public to continue supporting the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities, assuring them of the Command’s commitment to confidentiality and security."
