NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a subsidiary of Dangote Industries and a major player in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods sector, has appointed Tonya Lawani as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
The company, formerly known as the National Salt Company of Nigeria, announced the appointment as part of ongoing efforts to deepen its leadership bench and drive strategic growth across its product portfolio.
Lawani, who serves as Group Chief Executive Officer of Seal Group, brings a wealth of cross-industry experience spanning advertising, hospitality, retail, print media, marketing, manufacturing, and general merchandising.
Her addition to the board comes at a time NASCON is expanding its footprint in Nigeria’s highly competitive FMCG landscape. The company has evolved from a salt-refining operation into a diversified manufacturer of salt, vegetable oil, tomato paste, and seasonings, supplying households across Nigeria and West Africa.
“With her strong track record of scaling businesses and driving innovation across multiple sectors, Tonya’s appointment reflects NASCON’s commitment to strengthening its corporate governance with independent voices who bring fresh perspectives,” the company said in a statement to The PUNCH on Tuesday.
NASCON operates manufacturing plants in four locations: Apapa and Oregun in Lagos State, Ota in Ogun State, and Port Harcourt in Rivers State, enabling efficient distribution and supply chain optimisation.
The board appointment also aligns with a broader trend among Nigerian corporates seeking directors with external expertise to navigate the evolving market environment.
