Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died on Thursday, had posted a tweet on his X account regarding the ceremony of his wedding with Rute Cardoso, which took place on 22 June.
Jota and his brother, Andre, died in a car accident in the province of Zamora, Spain.
Their car, a Lamborghini, left the road because of a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire.
Liverpool have since reacted to the death of their player, describing his passing as “devastating.”
On June 28, 2025, Jota, on his X account, posted photos of his marriage to his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, which took place on June 22, 2025, in Porto.
Alongside the pictures, Jota tweeted: “June 22, 2025. Yes, forever.”
Meanwhile, police in Spain have confirmed they are investigating the cause of the incident.
Jota joined Liverpool from Premier League club Wolves in 2020 and made 182 appearances for the Reds.
The Portuguese lifted the 2024/25 Premier League title with Arne Slot’s side in May, having previously won the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups in his five years at Anfield.
