Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would have been a great president, but not greater than President Bola Tinubu.

MyNigeria recalls that Bwala was Atiku's aide during the 2023 presidential electioneering. At the time, he was very critical of President Bola Tinubu to the point of labelling his election victory as illegitimate.

However, shortly after Tinubu was sworn in as President, he dumped Atiku and was immediately announced as a spokesperson for the Presidency.

During an interview with journalist Chude Jideonwo, Bwala had this to say about his former boss: "He would have been a great president if Atiku had become the president. But whether he would have been greater than Asiwaju, I doubt it now."

Turning to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Bwala accused him of being an opportunistic politician.

"The problem with Peter Obi is what we call an identity crisis. He has not defined his identity in politics, so he finds himself an opportunistic politician," he said.

On why he criticised the election of President Bola Tinubu, calling him President-select, Bwala said, "The number one role of the opposition is to oppose, to consistently demarket the opposition."
