Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, has described Peter Obi of the Labour Party as a pathological liar after a land debacle in Lagos.

Obi had alleged that the demolition of his unnamed brother's house in Lagos was political in nature.

According to him, he's being targeted simply because he chose to contest the 2023 presidential election.

However, documents have revealed that the property in question doesn't belong to Obi's brother but to a woman who won the right to demolish it and take possession as ordered by a court.

Many had alleged that the Lagos State government carried out the demolition, an allegation that the state denied through a statement by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho.


According to Omotosho, Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, Special Adviser, eGIS & Urban Development, who supervises LASBCA, confirmed that the agency was not involved in the demolition of the property in Ikeja, which Obi claimed was demolished because of his politics.

“We find it disturbing that Mr. Peter Obi would make such allegations without verifying the facts”, Babatunde said.

“The Lagos State Government is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all residents. We will not tolerate any acts of lawlessness or violations of extant laws. Individuals or groups involved in such acts will be brought to justice.

“We urge the public to disregard Mr. Peter Obi's claims and rest assured that the Lagos State Government will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order in our great state. We will not be swayed by baseless allegations or attempts to discredit our efforts," Omotosho said.

Reacting, Onanuga shared on X, "Lagos state government exposes Peter Obi, as a pathological liar."
