Stop accusating each other, Keyam tells Oshiomhole, Air Peace

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has ordered an investigation into the fracas between the Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace airlines.

Trouble began after the airline refused to board Oshiomhole at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on the grounds that the lawmaker was late for his flight.

A video then surfaced online showing Oshiomhole complaining bitterly. However, Air Peace accused the senator of causing disruption and even physically assaulting their staff.

In response, Oshiomhole provided proof that he checked in for the flight on time and was not late to board the aircraft as claimed.

He also stated he was not the only one affected by Air Peace's decision, which made him miss his flight.

He said that the video that showed the moment he was complaining was actually the moment he was fighting for other passengers after refusing the preferential treatment the airline wanted to use to silence him...

According to him, the airline was seen selling tickets for the same flight to whoever was willing to pay more, a thing he considered an insult to him and others.

The lawmaker's claims have since been denied by Air Peace, which lambasted him with claims of causing chaos and grounding flight operations.

Reacting, Keyamo said, "In the wake of the incident at the Lagos Airport last Wednesday involving AIRPEACE Airline and His Excellency, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, I have been in direct contact with both parties since that morning. I also directed the aviation agencies to exercise restraint in jumping to conclusions in line with the time-honoured legal principle of ‘hear all sides’ before reaching judgment.

"Whilst appealing to both sides to halt the public accusations and counter-accusations, I am further directing the relevant aviation agencies to thoroughly look into the issue, collect all available evidence and revert to my office so we can deal with the issue in such a way as to guide future conducts in similar situations."
