Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, has reiterated how his decision to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria changed his career.
The Atalanta forward was born in England to Nigerian parents.
Despite representing England at the U-19, U-20, and U-21 levels, Lookman opted to play for Nigeria at the senior level, making his debut in a World Cup qualifier double-header against Ghana in 2022.
Since then, Lookman has earned 29 caps with the Super Eagles, registering eight goals.
“Without a doubt, it changed my career and my life,” Lookman said in an interview with ARISE TV.
“People know that. This is my home. This is my place. I enjoy it here. I am the son of the soil.”
The Super Eagles star was crowned African Footballer of the Year last December following his brilliant campaign with Atalanta.
