Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said billionaire Bill Gates believes in Nigeria despite the negative things said about the country.

According to him, the Microsoft co-founder spends his wealth to improve the lives of Nigerians and has refused to allow the stigma associated with the country to prevent the gesture.

Sani said this after President Bola Tinubu conferred on the billionaire the title of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), for his significant contributions to health, education, and poverty reduction in Nigeria and Africa.

Sani wrote on social media, "When many bad things are said about our country, yet Bill Gates believes in us and voluntarily spends his wealth to improve the lives of our people in both the North and South of the Country. He refused to believe that stigma about a nation of princely online scams, drug peddling and corruption. Other US Billionaires choose other causes and countries, but Gates kept faith with us over the years. Many bad things have been said about his gesture, he never mind or retreated. He deserves the National honours conferred on him for being a good friend to this country."
