Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said the compensation of N1 million given by the Kano State Government to families of each of the athletes that died in a ghastly accident is not enough.
MyNigeria learnt that about 22 athletes that represented Kano at the just concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State died on theit way back from the tournament.
The vehicle they boarded had an accident that also left many injured.
As compensation, the state government gave their families N1 million each, a gesture Sani considered not enough because Kano is rich.
He shared on X, "The report of the Kano Athletes coming from Ogun who lost their lives in a ghastly accident is sad and unfortunate. Its a national http://tragedy.My thoughts and prayers for the victims and their http://families.My condolences to the Government and people of Kano state. May their souls rest in peace. Amin.
"One million for each of the deceased athletes is not enough. Kano is rich enough to do more than that. The deceased died in active service."
