The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Office, supported the reception of 147 Nigerian returnees from Niamey, Niger Republic, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at 10:50 a.m. on May 19, 2025.

The repatriation exercise was facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and witnessed the participation of key stakeholders involved in migrant support and reintegration.

Demographic Breakdown of the Returnees:

Adult Males: 54

Male Children: 24

Adult Females: 37

Female Children: 32

Upon arrival, the returnees were escorted by the relevant agencies to Chilla Hotel later that evening. Profiling and documentation were carried out the following day, May 20, 2025.
Minor health issues reported by some returnees were promptly attended to by medical personnel from the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS).
