Super Eagles legend Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has reflected on his time at Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 amid the club's remarkable form this season.
Luis Enrique's side is on course for a historic treble after edging Arsenal to secure their ticket to the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan in Munich later this month.
Okocha joined the Parisians in the summer of 1998 from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe for a record fee of €12.4 million, making him the most expensive African signing at the time.
The legendary Nigerian midfielder played alongside the likes of Ronaldinho, Mikel Arteta, and Mauricio Pochettino.
Despite assembling some of the best talents in Europe at the time, PSG could not win any major titles in Europe, a feat that has eluded the club to date.
Speaking on the sidelines ahead of PSG's clash against Arsenal in the UCL semifinal, Okocha stated that they struggled to adapt to the numerous changes in the team.
“We had a great team, but I think we arrived when the team was not stable.
“We had a lot of changes, and that destabilized us. You want continuity, you want to feel at home. Somehow, we struggled a bit to adapt.”
Okocha also hailed Paris Saint-Germain's remarkable form since Luis Enrique took over the reins of the club.
“It’s great to see the club getting it right. A lot of superstars have passed through the club and not won anything—I am talking about the Champions League.
“But it is a great club, a massive club that deserves to have that experience.”
