Napoli president will be sad if Osimhen stays — De Paola

Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer

In a classical editorial for TMW Radio, Paolo De Paola has given a breakdown of what is going on at Italian Serie A side Napoli following the arrival of Antonio Conte as coach.

De Paola spoke on a variety of issues but was particularly specific on the future of Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen who is widely expected to leave the team before the close of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen who is of interest to French Ligue 1 side PSG signed an extension in December with a buyout clause which is said to be around €120m.

An amount that PSG have so far refused to pay and will only formally make a bid if they have a departure in the striking department of their team.

It means the deal is stalling much to the sadness of president of Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis, who gave the 25-year-old an extended deal with the hope that he will be traded off this summer, because payment of his new wages will put a huge dent on their finances.

"I think Conte will be happy, but ADL will be sad, because you can’t handle an impact like that of his contract if you then have to make another one with Kvaratskhelia. ADL has managed to keep the accounts in order avoiding escalations on contracts. Yes, Osimhen with that contract would be a contradiction with Napoli’s policy, it would trigger an upward game that is not in ADL’s nature", he said.
