Two university students die after stampede rocked sharing of state govt's palliatives

Report indicates that two Nasarawa State University (NSUK) students have been killed in a stampede that occurred at the school’s convocation square.

According to the reports, the students were asked to converge at the square to pick a bag of rice sent as palliatives by the state government.

However, the distribution took a different turn as the students forced their way into the premises where the bags of rice were assembled and carted away the palliatives.

This incident led to a stampede with several students tramping on one another.

Due to this, two students were confirmed dead.

In the videos making rounds, some students were seen carrying two bags of rice while another showed two students fighting over a bag.

Reacting to the incident and videos on social media, a student of NSUK, identified on Facebook as Oga Dani, criticised the actions of his fellow students.

He blamed the students for disregarding the directives given to them to wait for the governor to arrive before the distribution begins.
