We know who killed our men – CDS Musa speaks on Okuma massacre

The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Gwabin Musa has revealed that the military is aware of the person responsible for the killing of 16 military personnel in Okuama Community in Ughelli South LGA, Delta state.

He made this known in a press briefing on the gruesome murder of a Commanding Officer, a Lt Colonel, two Majors, one Captain and 12 Soldiers.

The Chief of Defence Staff explained that before Lieutenant Colonel Alli’s death, he had a discussion with him and they planned to end all illegal oil bunkering in the area and increase the oil production of Nigeria so that the country can be able to have enough foreign exchange.

According to him, the military are searching for the culprit and soon he will be arrested. He also mentioned that arms were also catered away and efforts are underway to retrieve those weapons.

Musa said;

“I don’t know, for a human being to go to this kind of extent to do to people that came on a peaceful mission, then there must be something that goes beyond that.

I know the CO himself, Lieutenant Colonel Alli, we have said we want the oil production of Nigeria to increase so that we can be able to have enough foreign exchange and then things can really go down because we all know the challenges we are going through.

And so, he insisted that all illegal activities within the general area must stop. So, he directed all his troops, they were stopping all these illegal bunkering and these are the people benefitting from it.

So, when this issue came, I think it came as an opportunity for them to also do away with him and that is exactly what happened.

We know who did it. We are following up on him and it is just a matter of time, we are sure we are going to get him. They took away arms, we must get those arms back.”
