It was a commanding performance from Nigeria at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana on Tuesday, March 19.

Team Nigeria boosted the number of medals won from 78 to 85 with a dominant performance in the track and field events.

Nigeria added four gold, 1 silva and 2 bronze medals to their medal haul.

Faith Usoro won her first-ever African title after clinching gold in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 13.80m.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi successfully defended his title in the shotput event after winning a gold medal with a throw of 21.06m.

In the highly anticipated men’s 100m final, Usheoritse Itsekiri won silver after coming through with a time of 10.23s only behind Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme who clocked a time of 10.14s to clinch the gold medal.

Olayinka Olajide also won the bronze medal in the women’s 100m.

The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Patience Okon-George, Sikiru Adeyemi and Omolara Ogunmakinju won gold in the mixed 4x400m relay as per Dailypost
