National Assembly is Nigeria's problem not Aso Rock - Nigerians react to Senate paddling allegations

Nigerians on social media have reacted to the paddling allegation made by Senator Abdul Ningi.

Recall that on Friday, Ningi who represents the Central Bauchi district told the BBC Hausa that the 2024 budget was inflated by N3 trillion and that it wasn't tied to specific projects.

He further said that the budget passed by the National Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year was N25 trillion, while the one being implemented by the Presidency was N28.7 trillion.

This led to an uproar in the Senate causing them to suspend Senator Ningi for three months. Moments after, the Senator resigned as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF).

Also, during plenary on Tuesday, March 12, there was fresh revelation that some senior senators got N500 million each for their constituency projects in the 2023 budget.

This was alleged by Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Cross-River North.

Some lawmakers denied receiving such an amount.

Since the incidents, Nigerians have been expressing their disappointments at the Senate.

Many described the upper chamber as the problem of the country.
