The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named former Super Eagles star, Jay-Jay Okocha among its newly appointed ambassadors.

The African football governing body made this disclosure via its official website on Monday, January 8.

The Super Eagles legend will join other African football greats like El Hadji Diouf from Senegal, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, and former Egypt midfielder Ahmed Hassan on the newly launched CAF Ambassadors Programme.

These figures will play an instrumental role in promoting both CAF and African football.

Their role will transcend happenings on the pitch to other activities like involvement in tournaments, charity initiatives, commercial events, and other social activities.

Despite missing out on the African Player of the Year Award during his playing career, Okocha is highly regarded as one of the best African players of all time.

He won the 1994 AFCON with Nigeria and also won the Olympic Games two years later in Atalanta, USA.

The 50-year-old featured for clubs like Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, PSG, and Bolton Wanderers during his illustrious career in Europe.
