A video of some Nigerian policemen extorting money from a foreign female biker has sparked outrage.

The female biker was reported to have been on tour in Nigeria from the Netherlands when the she was stopped by the officers along Moniya Road in Oyo state.

The policemen who unknown to them were been recorded with a head camera were seen asking her where she is from and where she was heading, also proceeded to demand money from the biker.

In the viral video, the woman responding to the policemen questions said she was from the Netherlands and was on her way to Abuja.

The officers went further to ask the woman to offer them some money. They said; “Wetin you bring come? Wetin you won give me. O yah give me something nah.”

The tourist who was struggling to understand the officers asked, “Why?”

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, on Thursday, called on the Oyo Police command to investigate the incident.

“Now that is along Moniya in Oyo, #OyoPoliceNG should take necessary steps on that. I have notified the PPRO Oyo of this. They need to be worked upon,” Adejobi reacted.

Some Nigerians who were not pleased with the turn of event wrote on X;

@nifoej: First of, how will a police officer not know how to interact well in English and they are stationed on the highway.
Secondly, we are not safe. A token of fund can put us all in danger.
Why are police officers known for extortion?

@dexpirenz: That's the practical aspects of blood is thicker than water.... Is in there blood and we all no it, they have now showed it to the world.

@kelvin8614: very disgraceful people

@AquarianGod1: @PoliceNG is a disgrace. Shame on them.

@iamskide: I still want to believe this is a skit. How on earth would a police officer not be able to converse in 'proper' English! I laughed so hard, I became teary-eyed. If it's real though, they should be prosecuted/jailed for this.

@SquareC123: Majority of the Nigerian police men are underpaid but that still doesn't justify extortion.

@possibilities07: This is terrible! At least get small shame for body.

@somtoanyaduba: Because it happened to a foreigner, police public relations are making statements and wants to investigate it but this happens to Nigerian motorists on a daily basis. This shows that the police values foreigners more than they value Nigerian citizens.
