Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami has expressed shock and grief over the accidental bombing of 150 civilians in Kaduna State by the Nigerian Army.

In a post shared on his X handle, Patami commiserated with the families of the deceased while calling on those behind the attack to "must be brought to justice".

Condemning the act by the Nigerian Army, Pantami called on the federal government headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kaduna state government to do the needful, noting the killing of over 150 innocent lives is "more than a mistake".

He tweeted: "Around 150 innocent civilians, including women, children, & others, were bombed to death by our own army of the Federal Government in Kaduna today. Our heartfelt condolences to their families. Those behind it are to be brought to justice, as injustice anywhere is a threat to justice."

The strike by the army led to widespread outrage. Residents of the affected communities said they were celebrating Maulud, an Islamic event when the bombs were dropped by the military, a development that triggered both local and international condemnation.

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe, had to visit Islamic clerics in the state to douse tension, as the Governor of the state, Senator Uba Sani, ordered a thorough investigation into the bombing to forestall future occurrences.
