Reno Omokri drags Obidients after 3 month budget of Abia state causes a stir

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has taken a swipe at the supporters of Peter Obi popularly known as Obidients, over their silence following the shocking budget of Abia state government.

A report titled "Abia State Third Quarter (July - September) 2023 Budget Performance” revealed that the state government spent a whooping sum of N397,520,734.00 on welfare packages.

It was stated that the Otti-led government spent N223,389,889.84 on refreshment/meals, while N305,400,000.00 was spent on honorarium and sitting allowance for government officials within July and September, 2023.

In the report, N737,922,661.25 was spent to buy motor vehicles. N362,804,050.00 was spent by the Abia government to purchase trucks and another N400,890,000.00 was used for the purchase of buses.

The government claimed N252.4m was used to run the Deputy Governor's office for 3 months. However, N25 million was spent by the government on repair of public schools in the state.

This shocking revelation sparked a massive uproar online as many described it as reckless spending.

Meanwhile, some critics such as Reno Omokri, a Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain, has taken to X to slam the Obidients for failing to call out the Governor who they've praised for his works since he assumed office.

He wrote; "Look at the Labour Party that said they are the change Nigeria needs. Their government in Abia state spent almost ₦1 billion on feeding and welfare in just three months. Imagine this monumental recklessness! Even Tinubu, that is President has not spent that much in three months, and Obi and his Obidients are criticising him viciously. Now watch them and their Arise Peoples Party pretend they have not heard of the shameful waste of taxpayers' funds in Abia. They are too busy praying for the Naira to collapse against the dollar so they can dance naked for Tinubu. We no dey give shishi. But they give themselves billions! These are the people that want to fix Nigeria? More like fleece Nigeria!"
