'Is this not wickedness?' - Anger as Multichoice increases monthly subscription

MultiChoice Nigeria has come under heavy criticism from Nigerians following its announcement of a further 19% hike in all of its DStv and GoTv monthly subscription packages, which will go into effect on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

On Thursday, November 3, 2023, a notification message was sent to the company's clients stating the price rise.

Customers of the DStv Premium plan are receiving notifications stating that the monthly membership rate will increase from N24,500 to N29,500.

In a same vein, the monthly charge for the Compact+ bouquet has increased from 16,600 to N19,800. Additionally, DStv has revealed that customers on the Compact bouquet will pay N12,500 per month instead of the initial N10,500.

Six months have passed since Multichoice made a comparable price review that was announced in May 2023. This is therefore, Multichoice's third increase in subscription packages for the year 2023.

Following the news, a lot of individuals took to social media to express their disapproval of the behaviour as they criticize the company.
