Tinubu proposes N26 trillion as 2024 budget

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu-led federal government has proposed the sum of N26 trillion as the 2024 budget, which will be forwarded to the national assembly on or before December 31.

The minister of planning and budget, Atiku Bagudu, disclosed the budget proposal to newsmen at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was held at the presidential villa on Monday, October 16, The Cable reported.

Before his assumption into office, the federal government under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari inculcated the culture of presenting the budget by December 31 as against what had existed before his assumption to office.

Tinubu appeared to be planning to sustain the culture as the minister announced that the executive would forward the budget to the national assembly on or before December 31.

As of the time of writing this report, the federal government has yet to give a breakdown of the budget.

At the FEC meeting, President Tinubu also sworn in three new ministers who were earlier screened and confirmed by the Senate.

The newly sworn-in ministers of President Tinubu were Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Ayodele Olawande and Balarabe Lawal.

While Ibrahim and Olawande were appointed as the new minister for youth and minister of state for youth respectively, Lawal became the new minister of environment.

Lawal, who was representing the ministerial slot from Kaduna State, replaced Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of the state, who was rejected by the Senate during screening over security concerns.
