Kumuyi's comment on Tinubu's govt sparked mixed reactions; old prophesies pop up

A video of the General Overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi telling Nigerians that the country will be better under President Bola Tinubu.

He said this on Tuesday, August 22, during a press conference about his church's monthly Global Crusade program.

“Let’s forget the past. This is a new day, and I believe we all believe that we will see new things for our country through our President and the cabinet members. Good things will happen,” Kumuyi said.

The cleric's comment has since sparked massive debate on social media causing many to dig up his old prophesies about the governments in power.

In April 10, 1986, Pastor Kumuyi called for special prayers for Nigeria and that that only prayers could save the country from collapse.

Also June 8, 2015, Kumuyi said God ordained Buhari, Osinbajo as our leaders and that they will deliver.

On December 25, 2016, Kumuyi said God will give Buhari solution to Nigerian's problem in 2017.

All these messages seem not to seat well with many Nigerians who took to social media to share their thoughts.

Are we sure our leaders are really Nigeria's problem and not we, the citizens?

And yes, I believe our leaders need a miracle in their hearts; a major Holy Ghost led surgery to deal with the evil residing there. I see nothing wrong with the prayers if it's about this video

@FranklinNwachu6: I have always said one of the major problems in Nigeria is the religious leaders. If they are doing their job well these corrupt politicians will not thrive so well.

@ObiEverything: They keep deceiving Nigeria with prophesy and prayers.. I remember in 1996 we went to festac same prayer is being said by one popular pastor. today his still praying.. Many years ago we went to agege to one Muslim program same prayer.

My advice for every Nigerian is that leave your religion behind and think on your terms. Look at the situation of Nigerian citizens and make your own conclusions. These men who we assumed were spiritual heads have made religion a nonsense of what spirituality should stand for
