'Don't favour any ethnic group' - Tony Nwoye 'cries' over number of nominees from south-east in Tinubu's cabinet

Tony Nwoye Tony Nwoye

Former member of the House of Representatives, Senator Tony Nwoye has expressed his disappointment in President Bola Tinubu for having a minimum number of nominees from the south-east region in his cabinet formation.

According to Nwoye, it is not a clever move move by the president as this does not promote national unity and representation.

He made this known during an interview on Channels TV's 'Politics Today' on Tuesday, August 8.

The former governorship candidate for Anambra state stated: "We are saying that, let them do to us what has happened to other parts of Nigeria.

"For the past 7 years, I have not appeared in any television for an interview or anything, apart from the time that I contested for governorship in 2017. I am not a tribalist... I have more friends outside of Ibo land than even in Ibo land.

"There is a clear court provision that says in Section 14, subsection 3 of 1999 constitution, that in doing any appointment, or distribution of anything, you must do it in such a way to promote national unity, and you must not favour any ethnic group or religious group."
