List of peeple that can handle subsidy palliatives - PDP Chieftain drop names

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Reno Omokri, a senior special assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint Nigerians without any political affiliation to disburse the monthly N8000 that has been allocated to 12 million homes.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had asked the House of Representatives to amend the 2022 Supplementary Appropriations Act to provide N500 billion to fund palliative measures against the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

The request was convened in a letter read by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, during the plenary on Wednesday.

President Tinubu is seeking to extract N500 billion from the N819,536,937,813 supplementary budget.

While Reno Omokri has applauded the President for the gesture, he noted some names he believes have the integrity to disburse the funds effectively.

He wrote in a statement: If President Tinubu wants his announced palliatives to reach the people experiencing poverty, that they are meant to relieve, he should appoint a credible Nigerian without any political affiliations to head the disbursement of the funds. Perhaps someone like Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, or Clement Nwankwo.

Appoint them and give whoever is appointed the freedom to choose their team, and how the money will be disbursed.

That way, those Nigerians, who are already criticising the laudable initiative, with some saying it is a scam, will be likely to give the policy a chance and give the government the benefit of the doubt, that the money will trickle down to the masses at the grassroots rather than APC party faithful, the way Pastor Yemi Osinbajo was suspected of doing with TraderMoni and NPower.

Mr Omokri, a staunch critic of the President before he the election has become the biggest supporter of the former Lagos State Governor, applauding him for his appointements and recent economic policies.
