Most Igbos do not believe in Biafra - Ojukwu reveals

Lotanna Ojokwu, the 3rd son of Sir Louis Odimegwu Ojukwu, has said that most Igbos do not believe in Biafra.

Speaking in an interview with Arise Telvision, Ojukwu noted that the thought of Biafra emanated from the idea that Igbos have not been treated fairly in the country.

According to him, all they want is an equal playing field for the Igbos in every aspect of the country including politics.

He added that Igbos love to travel and engage in businesses across the globe and not necessarily be by themselves.

"Most Igbos do not believe in Biafra. What they are talking about, what they want is an equal playing field in Nigeria. People are using the fact that the Igbo man does not feel he gets a fair share or being treated equally. They are using that to paint Nigeria as not good for the Igbo man. If we love been by ourselves so much why is Igbos in Lagos, Kano, Abuja plying their trade. We like to travel, we like to be free, to engage in our businesses all over Africa," he said.

He made this known following the sit-at-home-order announced by Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa.

He directed all residents in the south east to sit at home in an attempt to force the government to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

This sit-at-home order led to the beating residents who failed to observed the directive. Also the destruction of properties of those caught roaming the streets.

Nigerians have condemned the act by some members of the IPOB and called on government to resolve the issue.
