Popular on-air-personality, Rufai Oseni has showered encomium on the late Moshood Abiola (MKO), the winner of the annulled 12 June 1993 presidential election.

Mr Rufai on the Political Discussion segment of the morning show described the late statesman as one who is in his own class.

He made the comment as Nigeria marks Democracy Day on Monday, June 12.

According to Rufai, no modern-day politician can compare to the clout MKO had both locally and internationally, noting that Abiola was "larger than life".

"And the reason why Nigerians voted for Bashorun MKO Abiola was because he was larger than life. MKO Abiola can't be compared to any current-day politician in Nigeria. There was no sector MKO didn't touch," Rufai said.

"He is the one politician that has had the level of appeal international that has not been seen before. And I repeat because I m trying to see some politicians who are trying to draw a comparison to Abiola," he said.

He further called for the introduction of June 12 as a separate topic in curriculums across the country.

"I think going forward, I will like to make a suggestion that the history of June 12 should be added to the school's curriculum. so that from a very tender age, they are thought the history of June 12 and what happened. Because we deliberately pull out history from our curriculum because we don't want to tell people the truth."

"But June 12 specifically should be a topic on its own in the curriculum because people know the truth and only the truth will lead people to a path of recovery."
