Renowned TV anchor, Rufai Oseni has said the Nigerians no longer trust the government following decades of failed promises and corrupt practices among appointees.

Speaking in an interview with Voice Of the People, Oseni raised concerns over the corruption that has engulfed the government.

Citing example with the palliatives hoarded during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rufai Oseni claimed that there may be more undiscovered warehouses which was used to hide foods meant to be distributed to Nigerians.

According to him, he is convinced that the food stuffs distributed during the 2023 general elections could have emanated from the stored palliatives from the covid period.

Rufai stated that during the covid, there were massive corruption that was uncovered.

In his submission, he said;

"How do you want Nigerians to trust a government when the food Nigerians are supposed to eat during covid, they went and stored it in a ware house, They didn't give the people the food. they had to discover the food them getting rotten in a ware house.

How do you want the people to trust the government that was stealing from them during covid. You saw all the hardship they were going through and the racketeering. How do you want people to trust the government. If the government want people to trust them, then give people food.

I'm sure it is not all the warehouses they discovered during covid. I'm sure some of the food even stored during covid was still used for elections, as they share bags of rice among others. I'm sure most of the funds during covid were syphoned. Abi you saw the corruption during covid. How we could not even account for covid contract for hospital beds and other things."

The Arise Television anchor urged the government to do better in order to earn the trust of the citizens.

He added that when the people begin to see the government care about them, things will get better.

"So if the government want people to trust them, they should start by doing better and this hardship is a very great place to start. if the people see that the government cares for them. a lot of things will be reduced," Rufai Oseni said.
