Nigerians on social media have been at the tip of their seats when viral reports emerged that the national airline unveiled on May 26 was a chartered flight from Ethiopia.

This comes after the Interim Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Capt Dapo Olumide, on Tuesday, said the aircraft used to unveil the country’s national career was a legitimate chartered flight from Ethiopian Airlines.

He said the aircraft returned to Ethiopian Airlines after the unveiling. Olumide stated this before the Senate Committee on Aviation.

This, however, didn't go down well with the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation has called for the suspension of the establishment of Nigeria Air.

It also called for prosecuting those involved in the unveiling of the national carrier by the previous administration, describing the exercise as a fraud.

The resolutions were reached on Tuesday during the committee’s interactive session with some government officials and other relevant bodies in the sector at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media have shared their concerns.
