'Seems like a demotion' - Netizens react to Gbajabiamila's appointment as Chief of staff

On Friday, June 2, President Bola Tinubu named Femi Gbajabiamila, the departing Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his new Chief of Staff.

This information was provided in a statement headlined "President Tinubu appoints Gbajabiamila COS, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, DCOS, and George Akume, SGF," which was released on Friday and was signed by State House Director of Information Abiodun Oladunjoye.

Gbajabiamila in response to the appointment, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for considering him deserving of the post.

He pledged to work with the president to discharge the enormous task ahead of him for the peace and progress of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Gbajabiamila also pledge to give his best when he resumes office on Wednesday, June 14 2023.


He promised to collaborate with the president to complete the monumental task that lay before him for the federal republic of Nigeria's peace and growth.

Additionally, Gbajabiamila promises to work hard when he resumes his duties on June 14th, 2023.




Social media users reacted to the appointment in numerous ways. Some congratulated the new Chief of staff and wished he performed well in office.

Others complained that Gbajabiamila's unexpected promotion to Chief of Staff from the lower position of Speaker of the House of Representatives appeared to be a demotion.
