Governor Obaseki sacks all commissioners, special assistants

Report indicates that Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has dissolved the State Executive Council.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, by Crusoe Osagie, special adviser, media projects, Obaseki said the dissolution of the council was with immediate effect.

Speaking during the weekly Executive Council meeting, the governor expressed gratitude to the outgone members of the council for their service to the government and the people.

Crusoe Osagie stated that all special assistants (SAs) and senior special assistants (SSAs) had been relieved of their appointments.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost its grip in Edo state during the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections.

It was reported that the popularity of the PDP declined in the state after his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress (APC), fully returned to the political scene after recording victory in the last election.

Both Oshiomhole and Obaseki were locked in a fierce battle in Edo state during the state House of Assembly
